Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnotic techniques to bring about beneficial change. During hypnotherapy you are guided to achieve a state of relaxation. This enables your unconscious mind to become more receptive to new perspectives, ideas and positive suggestions. During hypnosis you will always be in control and aware of your surroundings. Hypnosis is not like a deep state of sleep. You will find that your awareness is heightened and by focusing on the therapists voice you will be able to activate inner resources to overcome irrational fears, negative thoughts, suppressed emotions and bad habits.   I find hypnotherapy can be a useful adjunct to cognitive approaches.
